The year 2015 marks the 40th Anniversary of The Hundred Club of Durango and this milestone was celebrated with a full house at The Henry Strater Theater, where our annual banquet is held.

The 2015-2016 Scholarship recipients were acknowledged. Shown in the photo are (left to right) Shandiin Dodge, Amber Harwig, Caitlin Martin, Morgan Walts, Austin Shupe. Desiree LIttle also received a scholarship, however was not present for the banquet.

Board President, Dean Brown welcomed local association representatives to speak on behalf of their departments. Newly appointed Durango Fire & Rescue Chief Hal Doughty greeted the audience. "In my position as the Fire Chief, I am one of the most fortunate people in the world. You see, I get to work each day with a group of the most dedicated and committed people I have ever been exposed too. 160 individuals, many of whom don’t even get paid, who believe what you do: that living in our community should be enjoyable, and that if something bad happens there should be people who will come and help, no matter what. Our members work incredibly hard to do just that. They commit countless hours to being ready to answer the next call for help. Our motto is One Community, One Family, One Department.”

Colorado State Patrol Captain Adrian Driscoll spoke in remembrance of Officer Jaimie Jursevics, who was killed by a drunk driver earlier in the week; reminding us of our never ending, ever important mission.
